Miha Kelemina, Lara Plavčak: Studio Visits

World of Art | School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing | Year 16

Studio visits provide the opportunity for getting to know artistic production. The advantage of visits is personal contact with artists, which enables better understanding of artistic production and can be understood as an opportunity for conversation and dialogue. Studio visits can build and maintain professional relationships, based on the dialogue between curator and artists, which can be seen as an integrated approach to curatorial work and curator’s responsibilities.
On guided visits to studios, a group of participants will meet with some of the active contemporary artists of different generations. Before each visit the participants will prepare their own research of artist’s work, which will help them in the concrete situation of discussion as well as in their subsequent approaches to curating.
