My selection of artworks of both artists is primarily based on the trust in the importance and quality of chosen works.<\/p>\n
The second selection criterion is conditioned with the collective decision of the curators of the exhibition that each of us would present the work of one i.e. two authors chosen according to a subjective and non-theoretical view on contemporary art. I chose two artists whose works are close to one of my views on what I consider a high-quality visual poetics in contemporaneity. At the first glance, the works of both authors appear to be \u201caesthetical\u201d; yet this is no aesthetics of empty but a beauty inhabited with explorations of history and\/or ideologies both in the very world of art and more widely in society and media, accompanied by the shifting of meanings between the two. My wish was to establish a dialogue between the works of both authors whom I would choose for the exhibition. This wish has most probably influenced my choice of authors and subsequently the decision to present the author\u2019s books at the exhibition. The decision to connect the authors\u2019 poetics in view of the medium of expression offered itself; another influence on the selection was most probably also my personal fetishist relation towards books.<\/p>\n
The third criterion of selection is thus the medium of artwork. The author’s books are (sadly) rarely exhibited. Besides this, both authors are known in the art world mainly through their fine art work and it seems that their other production is somewhat left aside. Hence I chose the cycle of five author\u2019s books Hortus Conclusus<\/em> by Ksenija \u010cer\u010de and the installation On Words, Sentences, Paragraphs and Exclamation Points<\/em> by I\u0161tvan I\u0161ta Huzjan, consisting of the author’s books Das Buch<\/em> and a video work, because I believe they will be offering the Croatian audience an insight into a high-quality art production, previously unseen, that at once establishes a dialogue among the works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" My selection of artworks of both artists is primarily based on the trust in the importance and quality of chosen works.
