In their conversation, Saša Nabergoj (Head of School), Barbara Borčić (School Councillor) and Nevenka Šivavec (Mentor of Course for Curators) took a look at the school from the aspect of the diverse and disperse world of art – and drew the line under the first nine-year period. From 1996 up to this day, 61 individuals have successfully concluded the Course for Curators. They have realised nine exhibitions of contemporary art. The seminar was attended by 18 participants, while 42 lecturers prepared 43 lectures. Five bilingual anthologies make up precious material for getting an insight into and researching selected thematics as well as artistic and critical practices. This conversation was also the first in the series of events where different models of education in the field of contemporary arts will be discussed, along with theoretical argumentation and their materialisation in practice. There was a presentation of plans of World of Art for the school year 2006/2007 that would partly unfold within the usual frames, yet it would be mainly research- and experiment-based.

We have presented the World of Art Laboratory that will dwell in the Project room as well as on the Internet. Selected previous school attendees will take part in it, debating on curatorial practices, analysing, contextualising and validating contemporary art. They will present their conclusions in the form of a public art event.

The first nine-year period of the school was evoked also in video screenings and the presentation of rich photographic material. Exhibitions, mentors’ encounters, field trips, workshops – all of that came alive in picture and brought about memories and a constructive debate among the event participants.

On this special occasion, we have presented for the first time in public all video essays of the participants of the workshop within Seminar in Writing, led by tutors Neven A. Korda and Zemira Alajbegović, who have documented with the camera various exhibitions of contemporary art. Video essays as final assignments are an inspiring study analysis of the entire context of a particular exhibition and present an extraordinary documentary value both for our school, the galleries and the artists participating at the exhibitions. Neven A. Korda told in detail to the audience about the course of the workshop, its specifics and the plans for the future.

Season 03/04

Petja Grafenauer Krnc, Jani Pirnat, Brigita Strnad in Vasja Nagy:
Ready to Change (Gallery P74, May 7 – June 30, 2004)

Irena Čerčnik, Mojca Puncer, Andreja Milošič, Eugen Vodopivec Borkovsky:
Our House Is a House That Moves (Škuc Gallery, May 7 – June 11, 2004)

Season 04/05

Sandra Belšak:
Polona Tratnik: Hair (Small Gallery, April 22 – May 12, 2005)

Jaka Železnikar:
Mojca Pelcar Šarf: The Sky Above the City (Gallery P74, April 19 – May 7, 2005)

Tevž Logar:
Mladen Stilinović: An Artist in Action (Škuc Gallery, May 12 – June 18, 2005)

Season 05/06

Miha Colner in Nika Arhar:
Open Horn (Rog /Horn/ Factory and Škuc Gallery, June 23 – July 19, 2006)

WORLD OF ART Laboratorium of Curatorial Practices Season 10: 2006/07 Conversation, presentation and screenings Thursday, October 26, 2006, at 21.00, SCCA Project room, Metelkova 6, Ljubljana The presentation of achievements and events in the nine years of the World of Art, School of Contemporary Arts; conversation on new challenges; screenings of materials from the rich […]

[10,19

post-27","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-season-10
["GET
