We have successfully concluded the first year of the 17th<\/sup> generation of the World of Art, School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing. From October 2018 to June 2019, the school participants Tajda \u010ce\u0161arek, Tia \u010ci\u010dek, Kristina Ferk, Zala Ferlinc, Katja Filovski, Tisa Ne\u017ea Herlec, Lara Meja\u010d, Ne\u017ea Pav\u0161i\u010d, Anja Seni\u010dar and Rea Vogrin\u010di\u010d have participated in modules Exhibition Histories, Art System and Cultural Politics, Financing Exhibitions and Contemporary Art Projects, Writing About Contemporary Art, Theory and Philosophy of Contemporary Art, Curatorial Mapping <\/em>and Practical Work<\/em><\/a>. Tja\u0161a Pureber, Sa\u0161a Nabergoj and Tev\u017e Logar have presented cultural politics in Slovenia and talked about differences and similarities between Slovenian and international art system. Du\u0161an Dov\u010d and Ines Ke\u017eman have outlined means and institutions that enable financing exhibitions and projects of contemporary art at the local, national and international level. Modul Writing About Contemporary Art <\/em>consisted of workshops by Lenart J. Ku\u010di\u0107, Lara Plav\u010dak, Miha Kelemina, Asta Vre\u010dko and Barbara Bor\u010di\u0107. Gregor Moder has made an introduction in theory of contemporary art. Voranc Kumar, Kaja Kraner and Domen Ograjen\u0161ek were lecturing in \u0160kuc Gallery as part of the collaboration with the \u0160UM collective. Practical insight into the curatorial work was acquired in the framework of the Curatorial Mapping<\/em> with Jasna Jernej\u0161ek and the Exhibition Reading<\/em> with Vladimir Vidmar. As part of the meetings Curatorial Research<\/em> participants prepared their virtual exhibitions. We have visited \u0160kuc Gallery, Moderna galerija+MSUM, MGLC and \u0160vicarija, Aksioma Project Space, P74, City Art Gallery, V\u017eigalica Gallery, organized a study excursion to Graz<\/a>, artist talk with Robertina \u0160ebjani\u010d and meetings with curators in residence Lawinia Rate and Anton Valkovsky.<\/p>\n

Participants collaborated in conception and realization of exhibitions organized by the SCCA-Ljubljana. At the end of semester we have prepared an annual school exhibition control < cultivate > evolve. Soros Center for Contemporary Arts \u2013 Ljubljana (1993\u20131999). Its Organisation and Impact<\/em><\/a>, curated by Miha Kelemina and Jasna Jernej\u0161ek with the help of the participants. The exhibition focused on several work segments of the Soros Center, its financing mechanisms, exhibition activity, art directions and co-creation of the local art scene. In co-production with Kino \u0160i\u0161ka, exhibitions by Max Grau<\/a> and Sta\u0161 Vrenko<\/a> were organized.<\/p>\n

The second year (September 2019\u2013June 2020) will be dedicated to curatorial and critical studies and practical work. The programme will include regular meetings with tutors Alenka Gregori\u010d and Miran Mohar, studio visits, curatorial mapping, seminars, research work, and modules on practical work and conceptualisation of the exhibition. Participants will conceptualize and realize their final exhibition<\/strong> which will open on 14th<\/sup> May 2020 at the \u0160kuc Gallery<\/strong> in Ljubljana.<\/p>\n

In 2019 we are preparing a series of lectures and workshops on the history of (new) media art in Slovenia and broader region prepared in collaboration with Igor Zabel Association for Culture and Theory<\/a>, Goethe Institute<\/a>, Balassi Institute<\/a> and \u0160UM collective. World of Art school is also a partner in the international project World Around Us<\/em>, dedicated to art criticism in the region. We are planning multiple events and a bilingual publication.<\/p>\n
