We will shoot selected event in collaboration with the camera person, then write a script, choose the interlocutors and finally edit the essay, either alone or in collaboration with an editor, and put music and titles on it.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to other media, the advantage of a video essay on a certain visual arts event (exhibition, installation etc.) lies in that it possesses the capability to present the event to spectators either in part or in its entirety, with the possibility to present at once the authors, curators and others involved. The textual part is therefore usually brief: the information, opinion, or comment should be neither extensive nor verbally saturated. The way the event is shot is however important, as well as how we choose the images out of the recorded material; how we combine them with statements and off-texts; in other words, what is the relation between the picture and the script in shaping up the essay.<\/p>\n<p>Subject of the video essay will be <strong>Visiting Artist<\/strong>, final project of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofart.org\/arhiv.worldofart.org\/current\/laboratorium-2007-08\/\">Laboratorium of Curatorial Practices<\/a>, within which this year\u2019s participants host Romanian artist <strong>Mircea Nicolae<\/strong> at Metelkova mesto between May 27th \u2013 June 27th. The opening of the final exhibition will take place in <strong>Alkatraz Gallery on Friday, June 27th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, June 23rd<\/strong>, SCCA Project Room, Metelkova 6<\/p>\n<p>15.00\u201318.00 <strong>Workshop on Functional Video &#8211; theory, part I<\/strong><br \/>\nOverview of TV broadcasts on cultural and art events. Discussion on the subject of the video, writing the script and organising work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June 24th <\/strong>till<strong> June 27th<\/strong>, Metelkova Mesto<\/p>\n<p>Shooting on location depending on arrangement (appr. four hours in four days, depending on the script, program of visiting artist and including opening of the exhibition)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, July 7th <\/strong>and <strong>Tuesday, July 8th<\/strong>, SCCA Project room, Metelkova 6<\/p>\n<p>12.00\u201315.00 <strong>Workshop on Functional Video \u2013 editing and post-production, part II<\/strong><br \/>\nPost-production: writing and reading the text, editing the piece, viewing the finished pieces and discussion<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofart.org\/arhiv.worldofart.org\/current\/seminar-2007-08\/workshop-tutors-2007-08\/\">Zemira Alajbegovi\u0107 Pe\u010dovnik<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nis a director, scriptwriter and journalist. She received her B.A. at the Faculty of Sociology, Politology and Journalism in Ljubljana. She is author of short movies, documentaries and TV programmes in the field of arts and culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofart.org\/arhiv.worldofart.org\/current\/seminar-2007-08\/workshop-tutors-2007-08#korda\">Neven Korda<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nis an artist in the field of performative and projected art. He is director and author of theatre performances, author movies, documentaries, video clips. He is tutor and executor of workshops on functional video. He is also active in the field of archiving and preserving video recordings.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The price is <strong>20 EUR<\/strong> for individuals and <strong>30 EUR<\/strong> for representatives of institutions. The copy of paid receipt is a precondition for participation in the workshop.
