Gabrielle de la Puente (The White Pube): The Friendship Agenda
World of Art | 20th Generation
Lecture and book presentation
Saturday, 23 May 2026, 5.30 pm
Škuc Gallery, Stari trg 21, Ljubljana
We’re a lot easier to control, exploit and abuse when we stand alone. This talk explores how friendship can help people survive the art industry.
For 10 years, Gabrielle de la Puente has been collaborating with Zarina Muhammad. Their commitment to the collective identity, The White Pube, through which they post texts on various topics connected to culture, has gotten them through the good times and the bad, in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer. Exploring how friendship creates resilience, and citing Mark Fisher, Discord and knitting circles, in this lecture, Gabrielle de la Puente will talk about how friendship can help people survive the art industry, or just their regular daily life in 2026.
Free entry. The event will be held in English.
The White Pube’s book Poor Artists, which addresses the above-mentioned themes, will be available for purchase at the event.
Gabrielle de la Puente is a writer from Liverpool, England. She publishes criticism on art, books, and video games on The White Pube, a website she runs with her collaborator Zarina Muhammad.
